Decking the halls

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Seriously though, I'm 100% on board when it comes to decorating the house for Christmas.  Twinkling lights, scented candles, and an all around cozy atmosphere.

December 1st is the day I pull out all of our decorations, and this year I had more than ever.

For our dining room I used some red felt placemats I had from last year, but our charger plates are new. I managed to pick these up at Michael's on sale for $3.00 each. I'm kind of doing a reindeer theme this year and I thought these would be perfect. The napkin rings were passed down from a family member along with the candlestick holders, drum votive candle holders, and the pine cone basket holder. I picked out all the sunflowers from the potpourri and reused that from fall. Black cloth napkins were found at Home Goods for only 5 bucks.

This amazing little village was found at St. Vincent de Paul for only $25! There's some 40+ pieces and came with lights. I'm in love.  Second hand stores are actually a really great place to find decorations. Everything in the store I visited was in great condition and it was nice not spending a ton of money.

The rest of our living room is filled with all sorts of bits and bobs that I've gathered over the past few years. We love turning off all the lights and letting the glow of candles and the trees light up the room.

My husbands advent calendar is all set up also and is filled with all sorts of ideas to entertain our chilly evenings after work (along with a few treats here and there ;) ). Projects other than..... the 2000 piece puzzle we decided to try and put together last week.  Honestly, I don't know what we were thinking. As if this 1000 piece puzzle wasn't hard enough:

We bought glue and are going to hang it up in our library. Putting it together was a lot of work and I'm not about ready to just throw it back in the box.

I'm thinking a nice walk is on our agenda today. There's no snow on the ground so I'm anxious to take advantage of the decent weather before we're buried in snow.

Have a wonderful weekend!
