bareMinerals: first impressions

So I've been told by another blogger and friends of mine that I need to try bareMinerals, but I didn't know where to start. I spent over an hour in Ulta yesterday looking at their collection but couldn't decide on what I should get. I spent the majority of my time pondering over a primer, that I decided I needed to do some more research on before laying down $24 dollars for, and I was also told that their foundations were really good. If I hadn't just bought a new foundation from NARS last week, I might have tried that, but instead I went for a holiday pack of their loose eye shadows.

For $39 dollars you get 10 neutral, very wearable eye colors-- that are stunning. I've never used a loose shadow pigment before, but I decided to give it a go anyway.

The colors are as follows:
Snowflake: A frosty bright white
Drama: Deep bronzed pewter (looking forward to trying out this one!)
Bare Skin: medium pink taupe
Waterlily: Medium lilac
Vanilla Sugar: Medium golden vanilla
Nude Beach: light warm sand
Celestine: Light pewter
Sex Kitten: Deep chestnut glimmer
True Gold: Medium golden nugget
Queen Phyllis: Light buttercup

There's such a great selection here and from what I can tell, the product quality is lovely.

Each pot twists off and reveals a pull tab that you can reseal after each use.

This morning I used Nude Beach. It was easy to apply and not messy, considering the four square holes that release the powder.

The company suggests wetting the product (I dabbed a small amount of water to the end of my brush) to get a bigger impact of color pay off, or you can apply with a dry brush for a more subtle look.

This is just a quick dry swatch of Nude Beach. I was very pleased with the daily wear as it didn't smudge or budge at all throughout the day and there was absolutely no fall out during the application process. I first applied this shade with a dry brush and then applied it "wet" afterwards. Under my shadows I always use Urban Decay's primer potion, so I can't say how these would hold up without a base primer underneath.

Each pot is pretty good size considering you get 10 in a pack. This would be a great gift this Christmas for any makeup lover out there.

This Holiday pack gets an A+ from me!

This gift set can be purchased at ULTA for $39.
