Renaissance Weekend and oxblood over load

(SEPTEMBER 2014)
This weekend was the Renaissance Festival in Holly, Michigan and I was asked again to work at the Red Lion serving beer. Costumes are a must and this year I went as a pirate. Last year I was more of a maiden, but with the cape and a long dress I wanted to go with something a little more practical.
It was a wee on the gothic side, but I thought it looked pretty good. The hat and shirt were rented pieces from a friend, but I just paired it with some black leggings, some black and grey checkered socks, and a pair of grey and black flats from Puma.

(SEPTEMBER 2013)
Last year I learned that I shouldn't have worn any shoes that I didn't mind getting ruined because it rained yet again and my shoes got extremely muddy. Oh well. Ya live and ya learn.

So after a long weekend of serving beer, I decided to go with something a bit more comfortable and cozy on Monday (the high was only 62 degrees!)

I put my "day two" hair up in a pony tail, and threw on kind of a slouchy shirt that has amazing sheer cut outs.

This is my "other" pair of Unisa boots from DSW. This is the pair I fell in love with first. They're a beautiful shade of wine that online lists as "burgundy".

I can't even begin to explain how much I love this scarf. I'm pretty sure I scored this at TJ Maxx last fall. It has so many great shades in it including, black, grey, burgundy, rosey pink, and cream. I also love that it's really big and fluffy so it tends to sit just right.

To break up the black, I wore these leatherish jeggings from Target
I paired it up with my Pulsar watch and a pair of studded black earrings.

I hope everybody out there has a wonderful week, and happy first day of Autumn today!
